The incorporation of digital primary sources is a simple way to meet multiple ELA Common Core Standards that include use of media and support incorporating Common Core Standards for Literacy in History and Social Studies. Consider the following websites for easy access to primary sources:

  • National Archives DOCS TEACH Teacher Resources includes thousands of primary sources and tools for teaching with documents in the classroom.
  • Library of Congress Teachers Page includes classroom materials - primary source sets, lesson plans, presentations & activities, themed resources, and collect connections - searchable by Common Core Standards and state content standards.
  • Repositories of Primary Sources - A listing of over 5000 websites describing holdings of manuscripts, archives, rare books, historical photographs, and other primary sources for the research scholar.
