EDISON Cloud Web-Based Multimedia Lab for Exploring Electricity & Electronics

Electricity and Electronics Modeling Software

Greetings! My name is Dave Campbell, and I am excited to share with you my experience with EDISON Cloud.   The challenge is how to affordably teach a normally lab intensive hands-on Introduction to Electricity and Electronics course to distance learners.  A big part of the solution, EDISON Cloud, not only solves a significant part of the problem but, it has great advantages for 6-12th grade classrooms as well as my college course.

Online Publishing Tools

University of Idaho

Research has shown that when students write for a tangible audience, their motivation and performance improve. This, in addition to many other reasons, such as engagement with material outside of the class and added communication between teachers and students, shows the value in having students make writing public, which they can do through the use of online publishing tools. Listed below are different types of online publishing tools including those for presentations, writing, and eBooks.

Setting up a Swivl and iPad Mini Combo

This video walks you through the basics of setting up a Swivl with an iPad mini.

A Swivl will allow a recording device to follow you around the classroom, and an iPad Mini can be set to record video and display the recording so that you can see it across the classroom. Together, the Swivl and iPad Mini can be a great combo for teachers to record their practice for sharing and feedback.

Recorded with Google Glass.

Utilizing Student-Owned Devices

University of Idaho

Students are accustomed to having nearly constant access to digital devices outside of the classroom, so why not find ways to incorporate the use of student-owned devices inside the classroom? Here are three possibilities to assist teachers with integrating student-owned devices to enhance lessons, increase communication, and engage students:
